Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Overview

A Distributed Antenna System (DAS) is a network of spatially separated antenna nodes connected to a common source, designed to provide seamless wireless coverage within a specific area. DAS is widely used in large buildings, stadiums, airports, tunnels, and urban environments where conventional single antennas may not deliver adequate signal strength. By distributing the signal through multiple antennas, DAS ensures improved connectivity, higher capacity, and reliable coverage in challenging or densely populated areas.

How DAS Works

DAS operates by taking a central signal source—such as a base station, repeater, or fiber-optic feed—and distributing it across multiple remote antennas strategically placed throughout a facility or area. These antennas can be connected via coaxial cables, optical fiber, or hybrid links. The system can handle multiple wireless standards, including cellular networks (4G LTE, 5G), Wi-Fi, public safety radios, and IoT communication, simultaneously.
